Committees

Lions Clubs plan and participate in a wide variety of projects serving the needs of in their local communities and further the international goals of Lions Clubs International.

Club members participate in committees established to organize club projects for fund raising, support outside projects by mobilizing volunteers and provide a point of contact for members of our community agencies needing donations.

Annual Christmas Tree Sales Committee

A major fund raiser, the Sale of Christmas Trees has been a tradition for the Gloucester Lions since the club’s beginning. For over 40 year the Gloucester Lions have warmed people’s homes and hearts by providing high quality Christmas trees with 100% of the proceeds going to back help the community.

For three weeks in December over 180 club members and community volunteers donate more than 1000 volunteer hours to the operation of the tree sale lots located at Capital Golf Course on Highway 31 and Apple Saddlery, 1875 Innes Road.

Food Aid Committee

Each year Gloucester Lions Club members volunteer their time in support of the Food Aid BBQ & Breakfast with Mayor’s Rural Expo.This annual event funds the Food Aid Program run by the Ottawa Food Bank which purchases beef from farmers in the Ottawa region to process locally, freeze and distribute to people in need.

As a sponsor of the FUEL THE FOOD BANK program the Gloucester Lions Club has also pledged financial support to help fuel the eight trucks used by the Ottawa Food Bank to deliver 14 tons of food per day to 140 local food programs.
